Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks an Arena Operator to support safe, quality ice facilities for the Canadian Armed Forces community. You will maintain the rink, prepare dressing rooms, and assist visitors while ensuring equipment is ready and rules are followed.

This on-site, temporary role starts 08 September 2026 and ends 09 April 2027, offering CPR/First Aid utilization, teamwork, and opportunities to contribute to memorable athletic experiences for players and

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with related experience in an arena or recreation setting.
  • An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (AB).
  • Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (AB) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ice rink and dressing rooms; ensure equipment is organized and in proper working order.
  • Greet visitors, manage facility access, and answer inquiries.
  • Patrol the facility to ensure rules are followed and safety is maintained.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all visitors and participants.
  • Support the team in delivering safe, quality arena facilities.

THE ROLE

As an Arena Operator with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, you will be part of a team proud to provide safe, quality arena facilities to members of the Canadian Armed Forces community. You will take satisfaction seeing them at play and enjoying the facilities and get to experience the thrill of the cheering fans as you drive the Zamboni down the ice surface.

Daily, you will ensure the ice rink is maintained, dressing rooms are ready and equipment is organized and in proper working order. You will greet visitors, manage access to the facility and answer customer inquiries. You will patrol the facility to ensure rules and regulations are being followed and equipment and facilities are safe for all those that visit.

Qualifications Needed
Education, Certifications and Licenses
  • High school diploma AND some years experience in a related field.
  • (OR An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience)
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (AB)
  • Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (AB), an asset
Experience
  • In ice rink maintenance
  • In operating ice rink equipment
Competencies
  • Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
Language Requirements
  • English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset
  • Reading: None

  • Oral: Functional
