Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is hiring an Arena Operator to maintain ice rink quality, support visitors, and ensure safe, welcoming facilities for CF members and families.

You will drive the Zamboni, manage daily operations, supervise equipment, and uphold rules and safety standards in a busy on-site arena environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma AND some years experience in a related field.
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (AB)
  • Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (AB), an asset
  • Experience in ice rink maintenance
  • Experience in operating ice rink equipment
  • Competencies include client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
  • Language: English required; bilingual an asset

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ice rink conditions daily to ensure safety and quality.
  • Prepare dressing rooms and organize equipment.
  • Greet visitors and manage facility access.
  • Patrol the facility to enforce rules and ensure safety.
  • Respond to inquiries and support events and users

The Role

As an Arena Operator with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, you will be part of a team proud to provide safe, quality arena facilities to members of the Canadian Armed Forces community. You will take satisfaction seeing them at play and enjoying the facilities and get to experience the thrill of the cheering fans as you drive the Zamboni down the ice surface.

Daily, you will ensure the ice rink is maintained, dressing rooms are ready and equipment is organized and in proper working order. You will greet visitors, manage access to the facility and answer customer inquiries. You will patrol the facility to ensure rules and regulations are being followed and equipment and facilities are safe for all those that visit.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licences

  • High school diploma AND some years experience in a related field.
  • (OR An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience)
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (AB)
  • Recreation Facilities Association Certified Ice Technician (AB), an asset

Experience

  • In ice rink maintenance
  • In operating ice rink equipment

Competencies

  • Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
Language Requirements
  • English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset
  • Reading: None
  • Writing: None
  • Oral: Functional
