Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Arborist to join our team in a full-time, permanent role. You will prune trees, work with climbing techniques or aerial lifts, and supervise crews on diverse projects while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience trimming/pruning trees in a residential setting.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with <6 demerits; air brakes endorsement is asset.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening required.
  • First-Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and on-call rotations during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Prune trees to remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches to improve structure, appearance, and safety.
  • Follow proper pruning techniques to avoid damage.
  • Work with tree-climbing techniques or aerial lifts for larger trees.
  • Supervise arborist laborers or tree care crews on projects.
  • Coordinate and manage tasks on larger job sites for safe operations.
  • Maintain records of tree care activities and inspections.
  • Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools and equipment.
  • Request repair or replacement of equipment when necessary.
  • Evaluate site conditions and recommend best care practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prune trees to remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches to improve their structure, appearance, and safety.

  • Work with tree-climbing techniques or aerial lifts for larger trees.
  • Supervise arborist laborers or tree care crews during tree care projects.

  • Evaluate site conditions and recommend the best tree care practices for the location.
  • Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
  • Requests repair or replacement of equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of tree care activities, including treatments, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Other duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Expectations
  • 2 years' experience trimming/ pruning trees in a residential setting.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with less than 6 demerits; air brakes endorsement is considered an asset.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
  • Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits would be considered an asset.
