Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Apprentice Utility Arborist to support vegetation management for utility projects. This full-time role reports to the Project Manager and features 9 days on, 5 days off shifts.

Ideal candidates have basic tree knowledge, a high school diploma, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and First-Aid/CPR. Expect to work in varying weather, with PPE provided and boots separate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean record; air brakes a plus.
• Basic knowledge of trees, identification and growth habits.
• Able to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and on-call during emergencies.
• Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris or feed brush into a woodchipper.
• Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and cleanliness.
• Commit to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.
• Perform physically demanding manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

• Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
• Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
• Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
