Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Arborist for full-time, year-round work in Calgary. The role involves pruning trees to enhance safety and appearance and working with climbing gear or lifts on larger trees.

You will supervise crews, coordinate tasks on job sites, and ensure equipment is well-maintained. The ideal candidate has 2 years of pruning experience, a valid Class 5 license with clean record, and is willing to pass drug testing and obtain First-Aid/CPR certifications.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience trimming/pruning trees in a residential setting.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with less than 6 demerits; air brakes endorsement is an asset.
• Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• Valid First-Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
• Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
• Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prune trees to remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches to improve their structure, appearance, and safety.
• Ensure proper pruning techniques are followed to avoid damaging the tree.
• Work with tree-climbing techniques or aerial lifts for larger trees.
• Supervise arborist laborers or tree care crews during tree care projects.
• Coordinate and manage tasks on larger job sites, ensuring smooth operations and safe practices.
• Evaluate site conditions and recommend the best tree care practices for the location.
• Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
• Requests repair or replacement of equipment when necessary.
• Maintain detailed records of tree care activities, including treatments, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
• Other duties as required.
