Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is hiring an Apprentice Utility Arborist to join our field team in the Vancouver region. You will support vegetation management, assist with site setup, and contribute to safe, efficient work in challenging outdoor conditions.

The role requires basic tree knowledge, a valid Class 5 license, and a strong willingness to learn in a hands-on environment with overtime and on-call rotations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean driving record; air brakes a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, their identification and growth habits.
  • Team player in physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and on-call rotations.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris or feed brush into a woodchipper.
  • Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and maintaining site cleanliness.
  • Commit to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.
  • Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Other duties as required.

The Position: Apprentice Utility Arborist

Working shifts of 9 days on and 5 days off

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.

  • Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
