Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the Saint Gabriel the Archangel YMCA After School Program in Barrie. This part-time role runs weekdays, 2:45–6:00 p.m., September to June, with potential scheduling variations on non-instructional days.

Responsibilities include supervising children, providing care and first aid, and delivering engaging, play-based activities in a safe, inclusive environment. Availability and adherence to policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) or completion within 90 days of employment.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Up-to-date immunizations as per public health guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children including toileting/diaper changes and first aid.
• Supervise and ensure safety for groups up to 15 children.
• Plan and implement play-based learning per YMCA Curriculum.
• Communicate professionally with families, staff and volunteers.
