Job summary

Upper Canada Child Care in Newmarket is hiring an Assistant Educator for a casual supply role at Armitage Village PS. The position requires availability for a minimum of 5 shifts per month in a split shift before/after school program.

Qualifications

• Vulnerable Sector Check completed.
• Health assessment and immunization on file.
• CPR-C and Standard First Aid certifications.
• Knowledge of developmental needs and play-based learning.
• Experience with inquiry/play-based design and pedagogical documentation.
• Strong communication with families and colleagues; professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education requirements and program statements.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings and training.
• Engage with the children and provide a positive learning experience including meals/snacks and personal care as needed.
• Foster ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
• Complete program charts, daily logs, and administrative tasks.
• Use Storypark for pedagogical documentation to guide program development.
• Collaborate with team, school personnel, and outside agencies to support all children.
• Provide guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
• Identify children needing additional support and help design/implement individual plans.
