Job Title: Receptionist / Administrative Assistant (Contractor)
Location: Rockies Building Supplies Inc. - 1560 Hastings Crescent SE, Calgary, AB
Wage: $15-$16/hour
Hours: Approximately 40 hours/week | Schedule between 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (to be discussed during the interview), Monday to Saturday
Contract Term: 6-month contract (renewable/extendable)
Start Date: June 1, 2025 (flexible by one to two weeks)

Rockies Building Supplies Inc. is a rapidly growing supplier of exterior building materials based in Calgary. Known for our efficiency, competitive pricing, and exceptional customer service, we are currently seeking a motivated and well-organized Receptionist/Administrative Assistant (Contractor) to support our front-office operations and contribute to our expanding business.
Position Summary
This is a contractor role (not full-time or part-time employment). The successful candidate will be paid hourly ($15-$16/hour) with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule within our business hours (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday).
Note: This is a contractor position and does not include health or dental benefits, vacation pay, or employer-paid deductions.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and visitors professionally and courteously
- Answer phone calls and emails; route inquiries to the appropriate team members
- Process cash and credit transactions using a POS system
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming
- Assist the sales team with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, invoicing, and coordinating delivery schedules
- Occasionally make cold calls to prospective clients
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
- Maintain spreadsheets, internal databases, and company documents
- Manage office supplies and general organization
- Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail and warehouse setting
- Effectively multitask between administrative duties, phone calls, and walk-in customer service
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (required); post-secondary education in business, office administration, or related fields is an asset
- 1-2 years of experience in a receptionist, administrative assistant, or cashier role (preferred but not mandatory)
- Proficiency in computers, email, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and POS systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Positive, dependable, and customer-focused attitude
- Ability to work independently and within a small team
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Training Provided
No prior experience with construction or building materials is required. Full training will be provided.
