The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Job Description

The AESO prioritizes open communication and stakeholder engagement. To strengthen this effort, skilled engagement practitioners are needed to lead stakeholder engagement initiatives, working closely with leaders to impact the AESO's reputation and success.

Reporting to the Manager, Stakeholder Relations, the Stakeholder Relations Advisor will develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans for AESO business units.

We seek an enthusiastic self-starter and creative thinker with a passion for continuous learning. The ideal candidate is a capable multitasker, supporting multiple engagement plans simultaneously with a keen eye for detail and strong relationship-building skills in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to :

  • Plan and execute stakeholder engagement plans based on AESO principles.
  • Advise leaders on engagement strategies, risks, issues, and tactics.
  • Lead hybrid, in-person, and online engagement sessions.
  • Manage and improve the AESO Engage digital platform.
  • Apply the AESO's Stakeholder Engagement Framework and Principles.
  • Manage broad engagement projects from short-term to multi-year.
  • Capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Build relationships with leaders, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Respond to emerging issues with support and advice.
  • Perform other responsibilities to meet organizational goals.
  • Manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Research, write, and edit clear communication documents.
  • Work professionally and maintain harmonious relationships.

What you'll bring to us :

  • Post-secondary education in related fields.
  • Completion of IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation / Engagement.
  • 5-7 years of stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Electricity industry experience is an asset.
  • Experience managing engagement projects and facilitating sessions.
  • Strong project management and client consultation skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical projects clearly.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing input and synthesizing materials.
