Reports to : VP, Controller
Responsibilities :
- Manage and mentor the accounts payable department team members.
- Analyze current AP processes and comment on continuous improvement of processes where applicable.
- Oversee all payment transactions, month-end reporting, and company financial expenditures.
- Ensure systems, policies, and procedures adhere to company and legal policies.
- Ensure that the accounts payable financial obligations are met efficiently.
- File HST on time and accurately
- Ensure all corporate tax installments and CBSA payments to CRA are done on a timely manner.
- Adhere to month-end timelines by overseeing all invoices are entered on a timely basis.
- Analyze and present AP-related metrics to management for review.
- Review and enter intercompany journals
- Be the compliance leader on the expense reports filing process by adhering to company policy and alert management of any required process changes
- Generate financial reports, and presentations when necessary.
- Provide bank, AP and prepaid reconciliations once month is closed.
- Provide support to internal and external stakeholders during annual audits related to AP and treasury functions.
- Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- CPA designation (earned or working towards) an asset
- 5 - 7 years of experience in an accounting role is required
- Prior experience of leading / managing a team is a must
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas & macros) and prior experience with ERP systems, data mining, accounting software, financial systems, and master data governance is required
- Experience in manufacturing environment an asset
- Proven leadership skills and initiative
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- High level communication skills to interact with all levels of management
