Job summary

Emcon Services Inc. is seeking a 310T Certified Lead Hand Technician for our New Dorchester Shop location. You will oversee maintenance and repair of the city’s highway fleet, supervise work, manage parts inventory, and coordinate with the Mechanical Superintendent.

Qualifications

• Registered 310T Technician preferred.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
• Grade 12 education preferred.
• Experience with Preventative Maintenance Programs.
• Experience with engine/emission diagnostics, electrical diagnostics and repair.
• Experience with heavy truck hydraulics, brakes, suspension and steering.
• Fabrication and welding experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of trade safety practices.
• Experience with heavy-duty equipment such as gravel trucks, snow-plow trucks and related attachments.
• Willing to work overtime and respond to vehicle breakdowns.

We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our mechanical team as a 310T Certified Lead Hand Technician for our New Location - Dorchester Shop.

Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Lead Hand Technician is responsible for:

• Maintenance and upkeep of all vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment;
• Servicing and repairing highway maintenance fleet in compliance with provincial requirements;
• Assisting with shop scheduling and assigning work;
• Supporting inventory and ensuring parts and equipment are available;
• Assisting with obtaining quotes, processing repairs, and tracking purchase orders and invoices;
• Supporting troubleshooting and ensuring work is completed within required timelines;
• Tracking repair time and completing work orders accurately;
• Maintaining communication with team members and management;
• Other duties as assigned

This position is for afternoon shift, shifts and times may change according to operational needs.

Qualifications include:

• Preference will be given to licensed Truck & Coach Mechanic (310T);
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License;
• Preferably Grade 12 education (diploma);
• Knowledge and experience in Preventative Maintenance Programs;
• Knowledge and experience in engine/emission diagnostics, electrical diagnostics and repair;
• Knowledge and experience in heavy truck hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, suspension, and steering;
• Knowledge and experience in fabrication and welding considered an asset;
• Good knowledge of trade related worksite safety;
• Experience on industry related heavy-duty equipment such as gravel trucks, snow-plow trucks, winter maintenance attachments, loaders, graders, sweepers, mowers, backhoes, tractors, etc.;
• Capable of working overtime as required;
• Capable of performing call out to attend vehicle breakdown.

This role is a unionized position with wages and benefits as outlined by the collective agreement. Pay Rate: Based on experience up to a maximum of $43 hourly. Additional $1.50 per hour as a lead hand.
