Job summary

St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton is seeking a Telecommunications Attendant to operate the hospital switchboard, paging system and information desk across multiple sites.

You will handle calls, code alerts, and assist internal and external clients with accurate information, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The role requires 12th grade education, 6 months switchboard experience, and proficiency with Windows MS Office.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months related switchboard experience.
• Proven knowledge of switchboard and locating tools.
• Proficiency with Windows-based MS Office.
• Typing 35 wpm (testing may apply).
• Familiarity with hospital terminology and processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer main hospital lines and emergency lines.
• Process calls accurately and courteously.
• Refer callers using PC directory and paging system.
• Maintain confidentiality according to hospital policy.
• Operate paging equipment and notify staff per policy.
• Update on-call schedules and assist with on-call rooms and keys.
