Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a Business Administration Student for a 12 or 16‑month term at Chalk River, Ontario. You will support engineering work planning, maintain configuration records, and help coordinate activities across projects, gaining hands-on experience across departments.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Business Administration or Project Management programs, with strong organization, data handling, and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a University program, majoring in Business Administration, Project Management or equivalent.
• Knowledge of project planning, resource coordination, and scheduling.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Gather data through interviews, reviews or field observations to plan and document engineering activities.
• Update Excel sheets with status updates for engineering work.
• Attend project and contractor meetings, update records from meetings.
• File documents in an electronic database.
• Gain experience using Foxit PDF software to maintain records.

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain valuable experience supporting engineering operations while developing your planning and coordination skills? Do you enjoy organizing information, improving processes, and finding innovative ways to make operations more efficient? If you answered yes, this may be the opportunity for you. Our Waste Operations Engineering team is looking for a Business Administrative Student to support engineering work planning, maintain configuration control records, and help coordinate engineering work across a variety of projects.

All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.

What you will be doing!

• Gathering data through interviews, reviewing similar work and/or field observation of tasks to plan and document engineering activities.
• Updating Excel sheets with status updates for engineering work.
• Attending project and contractor meetings, updating records with information obtained from (project) meetings.
• Filing documents (drawings, reports, assessments, etc.) in an electronic database.
• Gaining experience working with Foxit (a PDF editing) software to help maintain records.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
