We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with experience in Golang.

This position is remote.

The candidate will manage various backend platform areas, including API integrations with third-party vendors and partners.

As a Backend Engineer in our User Tribe, you will play a key role in making it easier for users to access Rain and develop products that help maintain positive cash availability.

You will collaborate with our international product and engineering teams to manage a robust digital wallet enabling seamless account creation and employer linking.

Responsibilities

1. Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, recommend alternatives, and lead engineering efforts to meet targets.
2. Design and implement reliable systems within a distributed microservices architecture.
3. Build and maintain integrations with third-party vendors and partners.
4. Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
5. Create reusable code and libraries to foster collaboration and scalability.
6. Enforce observability best practices with logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
7. Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture, APIs, workflows, and configurations.
8. Monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
9. Collaborate across teams to align priorities and requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in back-end languages such as Go/Golang, Java, Python, C++.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and optimization.
• Experience building scalable, reliable applications and microservices.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless technologies.
• Ownership mindset with experience in agile methodologies.
• Experience with message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
• Release management experience and familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.
