Job summary

ERA Projects is seeking an experienced Contracts & Commercial Engineer for building and civil projects in Bahrain. The role covers pre- and post-contract commercial management and negotiations.

You will review tenders, BOQs, and contracts, manage variations and claims, and coordinate with QS, PMs, procurement, and site teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of contracts/commercial management in construction.
• Solid knowledge of FIDIC or similar contracts.
• Strong ability to review and interpret contracts and technical docs.
• Excellent MS Excel and MS Office skills.

Job description

ERA Projects is looking for an experienced Contracts & Commercial Engineer with a strong background in construction and contracting.

This position is Full time.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities for construction projects.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract conditions.
• Prepare and review tenders, quotations, cost estimates, and commercial submissions.
• Review main contracts, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and related commercial documents.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and commercial performance.
• Prepare and evaluate variations, claims, extensions of time, and additional-cost submissions.
• Prepare interim payment applications, valuations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations and negotiate commercial terms.
• Identify contractual risks, scope gaps, exclusions, and potential cost impacts.
• Ensure proper documentation of contractual notices, correspondence, approvals, and commercial records.
• Assist in contract negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Monitor project progress against contractual obligations and agreed schedules.
• Support the preparation and assessment of claims and counterclaims.
• Coordinate closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance, and site teams.
• Provide commercial reports and recommendations to management.
• Assist with dispute resolution and contractual issues when required.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company procedures, and applicable construction regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in contracts/commercial management within the construction industry.
• Strong experience in building and civil construction projects.
• Solid knowledge of FIDIC or similar construction contracts.
• Strong understanding of BOQs, cost estimation, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Experience with subcontract administration and commercial negotiations.
• Strong ability to review and interpret construction contracts and technical documents.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• GCC/Bahrain construction experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Must be currently located in Bahrain.
• Must be available for immediate joining.
• Candidates with cancelled/transferable visa or valid local status are preferred.

Ideal Candidate

We are specifically looking for a construction-focused Contracts & Commercial Engineer with practical experience in project commercial management. Candidates should have strong exposure to contracts, variations, claims, tendering, cost control, subcontractors, valuations, and final accounts. This is not intended for candidates whose experience is limited to general administration or office-based commercial support.
