Job summary

Union in Bahrain is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team on-site. The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and quantity take-offs, and reviewing drawings and tender documents to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in estimation/QS, strong knowledge of materials and pricing, and the ability to coordinate with engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to meet tender deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in construction estimation or QS roles.
• Strong knowledge of BOQs, quantity take-offs, rate analysis and cost estimation.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team in Bahrain. The ideal candidate must have strong technical and practical knowledge of the construction field, with experience in preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, BOQs, tender submissions, material pricing, and subcontractor quotations. The candidate should be able to review construction drawings and specifications, analyze project requirements, obtain competitive quotations, and prepare accurate and commercially competitive estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and quantity take-offs for construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, scope of work, tender documents, and project requirements.
• Perform accurate measurements and quantity calculations from drawings and site information.
• Prepare detailed material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare quotation comparison sheets and analyze pricing.
• Monitor current market prices for construction materials, labor, and equipment.
• Prepare competitive and commercially viable tender submissions.
• Identify potential cost risks, discrepancies, and omissions in tender documents.
• Coordinate with project engineers, QS, procurement, suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Conduct site visits when required to verify existing conditions and quantities.
• Prepare rate analysis and cost breakdowns.
• Assist in value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain updated cost databases for materials, labor, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within tender deadlines.
• Review variations and additional works and provide cost assessments when required.
• Maintain proper records of estimates, quotations, BOQs, tender documents, and supporting calculations.
• Support the project team during the transition from tender stage to project execution.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience in the construction field is a MUST.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator / Estimation Engineer / QS Estimator.
• Experience in construction, contracting, civil, building, fit‑out, or MEP projects.
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, quantities, and pricing.
• Excellent understanding of BOQs, quantity take-offs, rate analysis, and cost estimation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and estimation tools.
• AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
• Experience with estimation software such as CCS Candy or similar is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines.
• Must be currently available in Bahrain.
• Immediate joiner is highly preferred.
• Previous Bahrain/GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of the Bahrain construction market, local suppliers, subcontractors, and material rates is an advantage.

Preferred Candidate

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of construction estimation from tender stage through project execution, with the ability to accurately assess quantities, pricing, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Candidates with strong Bahrain construction experience and knowledge of local market prices and suppliers will be given preference.
