Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents.
  • Prepare and analyze tender and contract documentation.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare comparison sheets and assist with subcontractor selection.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
  • Prepare and evaluate interim payment applications and valuations.
  • Monitor and assess variations, additional works, and claims.
  • Prepare variation orders and supporting commercial documentation.
  • Evaluate subcontractor progress claims and payment applications.
  • Assist in preparing monthly cost reports and project financial reports.
  • Monitor material quantities, usage, wastage, and project costs.
  • Coordinate with procurement and site teams regarding material requirements and costs.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify completed works.
  • Assist with preparation of final accounts and project close-out documentation.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and commercial risks.
  • Maintain proper records of contracts, BOQs, measurements, variations, claims, and payment documents.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, site supervisors, consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure commercial activities are carried out in accordance with project requirements and company procedures.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented QS Engineer (Quantity Surveyor) – Construction to join our team in Bahrain. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge and practical experience in the construction field, with solid experience in quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, tendering, variations, subcontractor evaluations, and project cost control. The candidate should be able to work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure effective commercial management of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the construction field is a MUST.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a QS Engineer / Quantity Surveyor in construction.
  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, variations, contracts, and cost control.
  • Experience in civil construction, fit-out, building, or MEP projects is an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other quantity surveying software/tools.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must be currently available in Bahrain.
  • Immediate joiner is highly preferred.
  • Previous Bahrain/GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of local construction rates, suppliers, and subcontractors is an advantage.
Preferred Candidate

The ideal candidate should have strong commercial and technical knowledge of construction projects, with the ability to accurately measure works, control costs, evaluate subcontractors, manage variations, and support the project team in achieving project targets.
