Job summary

Irish Main Contractor is hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities on a major data centre project in Belgium. Based on site, you will manage cost control, procurement, subcontractor management and variations.

The role requires 6+ years in quantity surveying on large-scale projects with main contractor experience and strong cost management skills. Belgium site work and European project exposure are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and contractual matters across allocated project packages.
• Lead subcontractor procurement, tender analysis and package appointments.
• Prepare valuations, cost reports, forecasts and cash flow information.
• Manage variations, change control and contractual correspondence.
• Assess subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
• Work closely with the site team to monitor programme changes and their commercial impact.
• Report to the Commercial Manager on project costs and commercial performance.

The Company
This Irish main contractor has a strong track record delivering major construction projects across Ireland and mainland Europe, with particular experience across large scale data centre and mission critical developments.
With a strong pipeline of European work, they are strengthening their commercial team in Belgium and are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for key packages on a large scale data centre project.

The Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Based on a major data centre project in Belgium, you will work as part of the site based commercial team, taking responsibility for cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, variations and commercial reporting.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Manager and wider site team, you will ensure packages are commercially controlled from procurement through construction and final account.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 6+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large scale construction projects
• Proven experience required managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
• Main contractor experience is required
• Must have strong commercial, contractual and cost management experience
• Required to be comfortable working on a site based role in Belgium

Preferred Experience

• Data centre or mission critical project experience preferred
• Previous experience working in mainland Europe beneficial
• Large scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical or technically complex construction experience advantageous
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline preferred

About You
You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong main contractor background and experience managing significant construction packages.
You should be commercially sharp, confident dealing with subcontractors and comfortable taking ownership of packages through the full project lifecycle. Experience on data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or other large scale technically demanding projects would be particularly relevant.
