Job summary

Sander Brussels is seeking a Senior Accountant Benelux to bolster its regional finance team in Brussels. This role covers Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, with ownership of key accounting processes across multi-entity structures.

The candidate will manage general ledger close, VAT, payroll postings, statutory accounts and audits, while partnering with cross-border stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Several years of solid accounting experience in an international or multi-entity environment.
• Fluent English and good command of French; Dutch is a strong asset.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounting and contribute to monthly and year-end closings.
• Prepare reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
• Handle VAT preparation and related reconciliations.
• Follow up on payroll accounting and postings.
• Contribute to statutory accounts and regulatory reporting across Benelux entities.
• Coordinate and prepare information for audits with internal and external parties.
• Oversee supplier accounting and cash flow activities.
• Support banking, forecasting and working capital management.
• Investigate accounting discrepancies and drive timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with auditors, payroll providers and shared service teams.

Our client, an international professional services firm based in Brussels, is looking for a Senior Accountant Benelux to strengthen its regional finance team.

As Senior Accountant Benelux, your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and journal entries
• Handle and review VAT preparation and related reconciliations
• Follow up on payroll accounting and associated postings
• Contribute to statutory accounts and regulatory reporting across Benelux entities
• Coordinate and prepare information for internal and external audits
• Oversee supplier accounting and expense-related activities
• Support banking, cash flow, forecasting and working capital activities
• Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure timely resolution
• Work closely with auditors, payroll providers, external accountants and shared service teams
• Support the Senior Finance Manager on broader finance matters and projects
• Take ownership of key finance activities when the Senior Finance Manager is unavailable
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls

• Experience: Several years of solid accounting experience, ideally as a Senior Accountant or experienced GL Accountant within an international, multi-entity or professional services environment
• Languages: Fluent English and a good command of French are required; Dutch is considered a strong asset
• Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
