Michael Page International (Belgium) is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure accuracy of accounting operations, compliance, and financial reporting within an international, cross-border setting.

You will work with a Shared Service Center across Europe, managing closing activities, VAT compliance, statutory reporting, and audits, while partnering with business teams to drive process improvement and digitisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of accounting experience in international or B2B environments.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and VAT regulations.
• Experience with statutory accounting and external audits.
• SAP S/4HANA experience is a strong asset.
• Fluent in English and French; Dutch is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews.
• Acting as the accounting reference point for the Belgian entity and overseeing the quality of accounting transactions by the Shared Service Center.
• Taking ownership of VAT compliance, tax-related reporting, and statutory obligations across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Coordinating annual audits and supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Partnering with business teams to provide accounting and tax guidance on commercial and operational activities.
• Ensuring compliance with local regulations, internal controls, and group accounting policies.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contributing to digitisation and automation projects, including the adoption of innovative technologies and AI-driven solutions.

Job Description

As Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of accounting operations, compliance, and financial reporting within an international business environment. Working closely with a Shared Service Center and stakeholders across Europe, your responsibilities will include:

The Successful Applicant

We are looking for a collaborative and flexible professional who enjoys taking ownership and working in a team-oriented environment.;

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
• Minimum 4 years of accounting experience within an international or B2B environment;
• Strong understanding of Belgian GAAP and VAT regulations;
• Experience with statutory accounting and external audits;
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or SAP Hana is considered a strong asset;
• Fluent in English and French; Dutch is a plus;
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and process-minded;
• Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in an international environment;
• Proactive, hands-on, and eager to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives;
