In4Matic seeks an experienced senior software professional to build and lead modern applications. The role blends hands-on coding with technical leadership, guiding a team across the full delivery cycle in an Agile setting.

You will develop and maintain Java-based applications, design REST APIs, and support the team with best engineering practices. Public sector experience is a plus, and Dutch proficiency at CEFR C2 is required.

Qualifications

Function

Our client is looking for an experienced senior software professional to help build and lead the development of modern applications. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, requiring someone who can contribute across the full delivery cycle while guiding a development team in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications with a strong focus on quality and reliability.
• Take an active role in the design and implementation of REST APIs and backend services.
• Support and lead a development team, including coaching colleagues and fostering good engineering practices.
• Contribute directly to coding, testing, and debugging activities as part of day-to-day delivery.
• Work within an Agile way of working and be prepared to take on a leading role when needed.
• Contribute to applications that make use of geographic data.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Java application development.
• Training, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in programming languages and environments such as Java/J2EE.
• Solid experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience with DB2, PostgreSQL, SQL, React, and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience implementing REST APIs.
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira.
• Experience with Bamboo and Helm charts.

Profile

• Proven experience leading a development team and coaching developers.
• Comfortable handling programming tasks independently and efficiently.
• Good understanding of Agile development methodologies, with the ability to step into a leadership role.
• Experience working in the public sector is an advantage.
• Experience within a public administration environment is also considered a plus.

Practical Information

• Language requirement: fluent Dutch at CEFR level C2.
