Pauwels Consulting is seeking a Lead Java Developer for a Mechelen-based public sector project. You will guide a development team, deliver complex Java applications, and ensure high-quality code through coaching and hands-on contribution.

The role requires 5+ years in Java/J2EE/Spring Boot, REST API design, and frontend familiarity with React and TypeScript. You will work in an Agile setting with strong emphasis on data integrity (SQL, Postgres, DB2) and Dutch language proficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend development with Java/J2EE/Spring Boot.
• 5+ years designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
• Strong database skills: SQL, Postgres, DB2.
• Proven leadership and coaching of a development team.
• Certified in Java/J2EE or equivalent expertise.
• Fluent Dutch (C2) and Agile methodology knowledge.

Our client, a prominent organization in the public sector, is looking for a Lead Java Developer. The role involves driving the development of complex applications while providing technical leadership and coaching to a dedicated development team.

• Lead and coach a development team to ensure high-quality software delivery and professional growth.
• Execute complex programming tasks including coding, testing, and debugging Java-based applications.
• Implement and integrate REST APIs with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Take a leading role in Agile development processes and project ceremonies.
• Manage database interactions and data integrity using SQL, Postgres, and DB2.

• 5+ years experience in backend development using Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot.
• 5+ years experience with the design and implementation of REST APIs.
• Experience in frontend development using React and TypeScript.
• Experience with database management systems including SQL, Postgres, and DB2.
• Proven experience in leading a development team and coaching individual team members.
• Possession of a certification or equivalent expertise in Java/J2EE programming.
• You possess extensive knowledge of Agile development methodologies and can take a lead role within them.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level of proficiency.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with CI/CD automation using Bamboo.
• Working knowledge of Atlassian Tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with Helm charts for application deployment.
• Experience developing applications that incorporate geographic data.
• Previous professional experience within the public sector.
