Pauwels Consulting in Mechelen seeks a Java backend developer to join a prominent public sector project focused on digital transformation. You will develop and maintain backend services with Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot, implement robust REST APIs, test and troubleshoot, and collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver incremental value.

Fluency in Dutch (C2) is required; experience with TypeScript and SQL is a plus; Jira/Confluence knowledge is helpful.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot.
• 3+ years of experience with the implementation and management of REST APIs.
• Experience with frontend development using TypeScript.
• Proficiency in database querying and management with SQL.
• Java certification or equivalent through professional experience.
• Dutch language fluency at C2 level.

Our client, a prominent organization in the public sector, is seeking a developer to strengthen their technical team. The role involves the end-to-end development, testing, and maintenance of Java-based applications to support digital transformation initiatives.

• Develop and maintain high-quality backend services using Java and modern frameworks.
• Design and implement robust REST APIs for various system integrations.
• Perform thorough coding, testing, and debugging to ensure software excellence.
• Execute application maintenance and troubleshooting independently to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate within an Agile environment to deliver incremental value and maintain code quality.

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot.
• 3+ years of experience with the implementation and management of REST APIs.
• Experience with frontend development using TypeScript.

• You possess a formal certification in Java or equivalent through professional experience.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level of proficiency.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with React for frontend development.
• Knowledge of Bamboo, Helm charts, and Atlassian Tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Experience developing applications that utilize geospatial data.
• Previous professional experience within the public sector or Flemish Government.
