Job summary

Amazon's Global Sustainable Packaging (GSP) organization seeks an Advanced Packaging Materials Engineer based in the EU to bridge EU and NA materials science teams. You will lead lab R&D for paper‑based packaging, partner with EU supplier bases, and co‑develop materials with automation hardware teams for seamless conversion.

You will evaluate materials properties, establish specifications, and drive harmonization of global packaging standards while accounting for regulatory and regional supply

Qualifications

• Experience leading interdisciplinary product design from concept to production.
• Strong background in materials selection, testing and scaling to manufacturing.
• Bachelor's degree in materials science/engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead lab R&D of paper‑based packaging materials for manual and automated packaging.
• Design experiments to optimize formulations and processing parameters.
• Develop next‑gen materials solutions focused on EU supplier capabilities and regional availability.
• Coordinate EU-NA materials alignment and harmonization of specifications.
• Collaborate with EU automation hardware teams to ensure material compatibility with equipment.
• Perform materials characterization and establish specifications for packaging performance.
