Job description

Our mission: to make international freight simpler and more sustainable through technology!

Founded in 2017, OVRSEA is a next-generation freight forwarder that uses technology to simplify and optimize international transport for businesses. We support 700+ companies across 60 countries in their international freight shipments.

In January 2026, OVRSEA merged with the Fatton Lyseo group. This large-scale operation comes amid profound geopolitical, commercial, and technological shifts. Our ambition is clear: to build, through organic and external growth, a unified, agile, and sustainable French leader in logistics, capable of addressing new challenges in logistics control, operational performance, and technological disruption.

This merger brings together, under a single group, cutting-edge tech expertise, well-established historical know-how, and a dense network of locations across strategic geographies - with over 1,000 employees, 61 offices in 14 countries, and 120,000 m² of warehouse space - serving demanding clients in the luxury, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food industries. Joining our teams means taking part in building an independent, high-performing, and innovative group.

Following this merger, we have oppened a new country: Belgium, in order to drive the group’s commercial and operational development in this market.

What if you joined us to support the development of this new office?

The Customs Team

The Customs team is part of our Operations department. Our Customs Declarants do more than simply handle customs formalities for our clients. They act as true partners, supporting them on all customs related matters.

Key stakeholders include, internally, the Operations and Sales teams, and externally, our clients and the Belgian customs authorities.

Why is this role unique?

This is not just another Customs Declarant position. It is a strategic role created to support Ovrsea’s expansion into the Belgian market. Today, we do not have a Customs team in Belgium. Our growth is accelerating and we are preparing to open our first Customs office in Antwerp.

In the mid term, our ambition is to build a local team and structure our customs operations on site.

As the first Customs Declarant in Belgium, you will play a pivotal role in this launch. You will combine operational expertise, autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit, with a direct impact on our local growth.

You will not only manage declarations. You will help lay the foundations of our Belgian Customs activity.

Your role in the team
  • Customs Operations Management (70%)
    • Prepare and review customs documentation including invoices, certificates, and licenses
    • Submit import, export, and transit declarations through Belgian customs IT systems
    • Classify goods in accordance with the Harmonized System and EU Combined Nomenclature
    • Manage customs files within relevant port community systems
    • Calculate applicable duties, VAT, and other taxes
  • Client and Internal Advisory (10%)
    • Advise and support clients and internal teams on Belgian and EU customs procedures and compliance requirements
  • Relations with Authorities and Regulatory Compliance (10%)
    • Manage relationships with Belgian customs authorities
    • Handle customs queries, controls, and potential reassessments
    • Monitor regulatory developments in Belgian and EU customs legislation
    • Respond to requests from customs authorities
  • Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization (10%)
    • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with customs regulations
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to customs operations
    • Propose improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity
    • Contribute to the structuring and development of customs processes in Belgium
