Optimus Search is seeking an Automation Engineer to support and improve automated production systems near Turnhout, Belgium. The role focuses on ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will work with Rockwell PLCs, TI A Portal, HMIs, and SCADA systems while advancing continuous improvement initiatives in a modern production setting.

Qualifications

• Strong PLC programming experience with Rockwell and TIA Portal.
• Experience with HMIs and control system architecture.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus networking.
• Ability to read electrical drawings.
• Experience in manufacturing environments; GMP/HACCP knowledge is a plus.

Automation Engineer, SCADA, – 12-Month Contract | Near Turnhout

We are currently supporting a well-established, highly automated manufacturing business in the region to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer.

This is a great opportunity to join a modern production environment with a strong focus on automation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Location: Near Turnhout, Belgium

Contract: 12 months

Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting and improving automated production systems, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems
• Supporting and maintaining automated production lines
• Fault finding across electrical and control systems
• Working with SCADA systems to monitor performance and identify improvements
• Supporting continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong PLC programming experience (Rockwell, TIA7)
• Experience with HMIs and control system architecture
• Knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• Understanding of sensors and instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow)
• Experience in manufacturing environments (food or process industry advantageous)
• Familiarity with GMP / HACCP standards is a plus
