Job summary

Melbourne Citymission Inc. is seeking a dedicated youth worker to support a caseload of young people at risk of homelessness.

Working within the Homelessness and Family Services Division, you will apply a healing-oriented framework to develop advanced case planning, risk assessments and safety plans. You will help clients access sustainable housing, coordinate access to health and mental health supports, and liaise with allied services.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Welfare studies or related fields.
• Experience in case management and trauma-informed framework.
• Experience and understanding of family mediation and family support.
• Understanding of issues affecting young people and families at risk of Child Protection.
• Ability to develop cohesive relationships with allied services and stakeholders.
• Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• High initiative, time management and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of child safety requirements.
• Strong administration skills and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Support a case load of young people through a healing-oriented framework. Utilising creative and innovative pathways to disrupt disadvantage and create pathways out of homelessness.
• Develop advanced case planning and crisis interventions to meet the needs of young people presenting with multiple and complex needs, including risk assessments and safety plans.
• Assist young people to explore and access sustainable accommodation options.
• Facilitate access to specialist support services, including health, mental health, AOD and therapeutic interventions.
