United Rentals Australia Pty Limited is seeking a Yard Operator to join our team in Melbourne. You will prepare, organise, and maintain rental equipment, operate machinery, and support daily yard activities to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities include inspecting gear, testing and staging equipment, and assisting customers during pick-up and return. A strong safety mindset, teamwork, and reliability are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in equipment hire, construction, transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or similar industry.
• Forklift operating experience and a current LF Licence preferred.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

As a Yard Operator, you'll prepare, organise and maintain rental equipment, operate machinery, and help keep operations running smoothly. With a mix of equipment handling, customer interaction and yard activities, no two days are the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Inspecting and preparing rental equipment for customer collection and return.
• Cleaning, testing and staging equipment to company standards.
• Safely loading and unloading equipment using forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Organising equipment and yard storage areas to maximise efficiency and accessibility.
• Conducting routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Assisting customers during equipment pick‑up and return.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in equipment hire, construction, transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or a similar industry.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Forklift operating experience and a current LF Licence (preferred).
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• The ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
