Rugby World Cup Australia (RWCA) is proud to deliver one of the world's most iconic sporting events — Men's Rugby World Cup 2027. More than a tournament, it's a celebration of Rugby's spirit, Australia's culture, and the power of sport to unite and inspire communities around the world.

Rugby World Cup Australia is hiring two Venue Workforce Managers, with opportunities available across any of our host cities.

Reporting to the Senior Volunteer Manager, you will play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating and delivering workforce operations across Rugby World Cup 2027 venues, ensuring staff and volunteers are ready to support an exceptional tournament experience. Working across the full event lifecycle, you will lead workforce operations planning and readiness to help prepare each venue for match-day delivery. This includes scheduling, rostering, coordination of venue workforce spaces and services, training and volunteer engagement.

Working closely with venue teams, Functional Areas, host city stakeholders, staff, volunteers and the wider Workforce team, you will serve as the key workforce lead for your assigned venue. During tournament operations, you will oversee workforce deployment, attendance management, welfare, briefings, operational reporting and issue resolution, ensuring workforce services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with tournament standards. This is a highly collaborative and hands‑on opportunity for an experienced workforce, volunteer or event operations professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a world‑class global sporting event.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead workforce planning and readiness activities across assigned venues, ensuring workforce requirements are embedded into venue operations, service plans, operating procedures and tournament delivery plans.
  • Coordinate workforce scheduling, rostering, deployment and attendance management through the Tournament Management System (TMS), supporting Functional Areas and venue teams to deliver workforce requirements effectively.
  • Manage venue workforce infrastructure and services, including workforce centres, check‑in locations, welfare facilities, FF&E, technology, transport, catering and signage requirements.
  • Validate venue volunteer requirements and prioritise volunteer positions to support workforce planning. Contribute to volunteer onboarding, engagement, recognition and offboarding initiatives.
  • Deliver venue‑specific training, Just‑in‑Time Training (JITT) and workforce briefings, ensuring staff and volunteers are prepared to perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Lead workforce operations at an allocated match venue during tournament time, overseeing deployment, attendance, workforce welfare, operational reporting, issue escalation and day‑to‑day workforce coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with venue teams, Functional Areas, host city stakeholders and tournament partners, representing Workforce in venue readiness activities and operational meetings to support successful venue delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 2-3 years' experience in workforce operations, volunteer management, people operations or event workforce coordination within major events, sporting organisations, or venues.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating workforce planning, scheduling, rostering and deployment activities across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines and resolve issues effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency using workforce management, rostering and scheduling systems, with strong administrative, reporting and data management skills, including experience working with spreadsheets and workforce‑related reporting.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with venue teams, Functional Areas, host city stakeholders, staff, volunteers and external partners.
  • Confident communication, facilitation and presentation skills, including experience delivering training, inductions, workforce briefings and volunteer engagement activities to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working within venue, stadium, tournament or major event environments, combined with a commitment to workforce wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and creating a positive experience for staff and volunteers.
  • Flexibility to travel between host cities and venues as required, and willingness to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support workforce operations, training, volunteer activities and tournament delivery.
  • Experience working on major sporting events, international tournaments or large‑scale event operations involving complex workforce planning and stakeholder coordination.
  • Experience working within a match venue, stadium, arena, precinct or venue‑based operational delivery environment.
