Job summary

BHP seeks a Mine Geologist for Prominent Hill on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Adelaide. You will deliver high-quality geological information to support orebody understanding and mine planning under the supervision of the Lead Mine Geologist.

Responsibilities include data collection, planning drill programs, grade control, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimise extraction while ensuring safety and quality. An exciting opportunity to advance geology skills at a world-class polymetallic orebody.

Qualifications

• Hard rock underground experience preferred but not essential.
• Overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
• Solid understanding of operational mining cycles, grade control and reconciliation systems.
• Ability to prioritise and make decisions based on impact on business outcomes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely geological data collection, analysis and interpretation to improve orebody knowledge and influence the plan.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to integrate geological information into mine designs and schedules.
• Plan underground diamond drill programs that are safe, efficient and effective for data collection.
• Oversee and optimise grade control and reconciliation systems to minimize dilution and ore loss.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and clear communication of observations and interpretations.
• Identify opportunities and implement innovative solutions to improve geological processes.
