Job summary

Save the Children Australia in Moreton Bay, QLD, seeks a Family Support Specialist for the Jebb Refuge to support women and children escaping domestic and family violence. This part-time role is nine days per fortnight, max-term till January 2028, within the Refuge team.

You will assess risks and needs using trauma-informed practice, help locate safe accommodation, and connect families to services for ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation
• Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including the impact on children
• Demonstrated experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Current drivers’ licence
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience in a similar service

Responsibilities

• Facilitating the provision of safe accommodation to women and children escaping domestic and family violence
• Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework
• Working with families to source appropriate, safe and sustainable accommodation free from violence and/or connecting families with services to meet their needs
