Job summary

Central Queensland Indigenous Development seeks a Child and Family Support Practitioner to deliver intensive, trauma-informed therapeutic support for children and young people in home-based care. The role may include kinship or general placements and requires building family capacity to enhance safety and permanency.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in social work or related field.
• Strong cultural identity and connection to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Experience in kinship care, foster care or child protection roles.
• Knowledge of relevant child protection legislation and privacy considerations.
• Ability to engage with families experiencing complex circumstances and provide practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic support to strengthen placement stability.
• Provide in-home intervention and capacity building for carers.
• Maintain accurate records and participate in ISO 9001:2015 and HSQS compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Child Safety and schools.
• Build kinship or foster carer skills and provide regular mentoring.
