Job summary

Mission Australia’s Cairns region is seeking a Child and Family Counsellor to support children aged 5-16 and their families with counselling, therapeutic interventions and case management at Hambledon House Community Centre. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based care that builds resilience and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience providing counselling, therapeutic support and/or case management to children, young people and families.
• Ability to build strong therapeutic relationships with children aged 5-16.
• Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and family-centred practice.

Responsibilities

• Support children, young people and families through counselling, therapeutic support and case management.
• Help children and young people build resilience, confidence and wellbeing.
• Work with families, schools and community partners to achieve positive outcomes.
• Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based support tailored to individual needs.
• Coordinate referrals and connect families with services and supports.
• Maintain professional records and contribute to quality service delivery.
