Job summary

TRP Recruitment is seeking a Despatch Controller for a day shift in Australia. The role focuses on keeping the transport schedule smooth and on time, with shift handovers and accurate paperwork management.

You will monitor schedules, report issues, and coordinate with drivers and supervisors to maintain a reliable delivery timetable. Monday–Friday roster, above-award pay, and supportive team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport scheduling or coordination.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Ortec and WinDMS is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of relevant Australian transport rules and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Customer-focused and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure day’s transport schedule runs smoothly.
• Confirm trucks have started shifts on time and review morning schedule.
• Monitor schedule and escalate delays or resourcing issues.
• Report driver absences and prepare handover/end-of-shift reports.
• Ensure paperwork is completed and returned before dispatch.
• Return paperwork and equipment to dispatch office; assist with ad hoc duties.

Despatch Controller – Day Shift

About the role

You’ll help ensure the day’s transport schedule runs smoothly by:

• Confirming all trucks have started their shifts on time
• Reviewing the morning schedule and adjusting for rolled or dropped loads from the previous shift
• Monitoring the schedule and escalating delays or resourcing issues to the supervisor
• Reporting driver absences, including sick leave, to help minimise customer impact
• Preparing shift handover and end-of-shift reports, noting issues and unplanned events such as absences or breakdowns
• Checking that required paperwork is completed accurately and returned before dispatch
• Ensuring paperwork and equipment are returned to the dispatch office at the end of each driver’s run
• Supporting other ad hoc duties as required
