Job summary

Linfox Intermodal in Mackay is seeking a transport operations coordinator for a 6‑month day shift role, 5:00am–1:00pm. You will coordinate freight movements from rail, work with drivers, subcontractors and customers to meet service commitments.

This position offers exposure to a large logistics network, development of transport scheduling expertise, and the chance to contribute to safe, efficient freight operations within one of Australia's leading logistics providers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience coordinating transport operations, fleet allocation or freight scheduling.
• Knowledge of transport compliance, safety requirements and operational procedures.
• Experience using transport systems and manifests (Translogix, WAVE) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily pickup and delivery schedules to meet customer service commitments and delivery windows
• Plan fleet utilisation and allocate freight movements based on train manifests, operational requirements and fleet capability
• Communicate work allocations and operational instructions to drivers, subcontractors and forklift operators
• Maintain operational systems, bookings, paperwork, DILO records and job updates to support reporting and compliance
• Monitor safety, fatigue and compliance requirements and elevate incidents as required
• Build strong customer relationships and provide responsive support to internal and external stakeholders

What does the job look like?

Join Linfox Intermodal where you'll play a key role in coordinating daily freight movements across the Mackay region. Working closely with drivers, subcontractors, forklift operators and customers, you'll ensure freight arriving by rail is efficiently scheduled, allocated and dispatched to meet service commitments. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your transport operations expertise, gain exposure to a large-scale logistics network and build valuable experience within one of Australia's leading logistics providers. This is a 6 month contract opportunity working on a day shift roster, Monday - Friday from 5:00am - 1:00pm. Key areas:

• Coordinate daily pickup and delivery schedules to meet customer service commitments and delivery windows
• Plan fleet utilisation and allocate freight movements based on train manifests, operational requirements and fleet capability
• Communicate work allocations and operational instructions to company drivers, subcontractors and forklift operators
• Maintain operational systems, bookings, paperwork, DILO records and job updates to support accurate reporting and compliance
• Monitor safety, fatigue and compliance requirements and elevate service or safety incidents as required
• Build strong customer relationships and provide responsive support to internal and external stakeholders

Are you the one?

You're a highly organised transport professional who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment. You bring transport scheduling experience, a strong focus on safety and compliance, and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities while maintaining excellent customer relationships. You can demonstrate:

• 2+ years experience coordinating transport operations, fleet allocation or freight scheduling within a transport or logistics environment
• Knowledge of transport compliance, safety requirements and operational procedures
• Experience using transport systems and manifests, including exposure to Translogix, WAVE and the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong geographical knowledge of Mackay and surrounding delivery networks
• Experience coordinating drivers, subcontractors and operational stakeholders to achieve service outcomes
• A structured and proactive approach to problem solving in a fast-moving operational environment
