Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced CHPP electrical technician to maintain electrical systems across screens, conveyors, and fixed-plant equipment at our Queensland operations in Blackwater. You will support plant reliability, identify defects, and perform high‑voltage switching and fault diagnosis within strict safety procedures.

The role requires an up-to-date Queensland Electrical Licence, experience in heavy industrial maintenance, and capability in isolations and electrical safety.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland Electrical Licence with a strong commitment to safe, compliant electrical work.
• Experience in CHPP, fixed-plant, mineral processing or heavy industrial electrical maintenance.
• Demonstrated capability in complex process-plant isolations and safe work on fixed-plant systems.
• Strong technical expertise across SCADA, PLCs, instrumentation, and advanced fault-diagnosis techniques.
• Qualifications and/or experience in High Voltage Switching & Access, or the ability to obtain these.
• Exposure to EEHA maintenance processes and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Maintain CHPP electrical systems: inspect, preventive maintenance and fault-finding on screens, centrifuges, conveyors, pumps, thickeners, flotation circuits, feeders and fixed-plant equipment.
• Support plant reliability: identify defects, implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement across CHPP.
• Perform HV operations: switching, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting per site HV procedures.
• Ensure compliance and safety: work within SHMS, electrical standards and regulations, ensuring safe isolations and controlled maintenance activities.
• Document maintenance activities: record electrical performance data, defects and improvements to support reliability engineering and planning.

What You'll Do
