Job summary

Haylo People Pty Ltd is partnering with an established organisation to recruit a Technical Specialist within their NSW Workers Compensation team based in Newcastle. The role focuses on strengthening regulatory compliance, improving claims management practices, and providing technical guidance to Case Managers.

You will work closely with leadership to support team performance, coach Case Managers, and influence technical capability and claims outcomes across the team, with remote flexibility

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end NSW Workers Compensation claims management experience.
• Experience in a technical specialist role or senior case manager seeking advancement.
• Sound knowledge of NSW Workers Compensation legislation, compliance and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to Case Managers on complex Workers Compensation claims.
• Review ongoing liability and compliance-related decisions.
• Coach Case Managers to improve technical knowledge and decision-making.
• Support claims strategy reviews to improve progression and return-to-work outcomes.
• Collaborate with Team Leaders to identify gaps and improve performance.

This role will focus on strengthening regulatory compliance, improving claims management practices and providing technical guidance to Case Managers. You'll work closely with leadership to support team performance and drive consistent claims outcomes.

The Role:

• Providing technical advice and guidance to Case Managers on complex Workers Compensation claims
• Reviewing ongoing liability, reasonable excuse decisions and other compliance-related activities
• Coaching and mentoring Case Managers to improve technical knowledge and decision-making
• Supporting claims strategy reviews to improve claims progression and return-to-work outcomes
• Working closely with Team Leaders to identify technical gaps and improve overall team performance

About You:

• Strong end-to-end NSW Workers Compensation claims management experience
• Experience in a technical specialist role or as a high-performing Senior Case Manager looking to step up
• Sound knowledge of NSW Workers Compensation legislation, compliance and claims decision-making
• Experience managing complex claims, ideally within a self-insurance environment
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with different personalities and stakeholders
