Job summary

Abbott Australia is seeking a Field Services professional with an electrical/electronic background to perform after-sales support, repairs, preventive maintenance, reliability improvement programs, installations and deinstallations. You will contribute to calibration, documentation and customer training.

This role requires strong communication, root-cause analysis, and ability to travel across NSW and interstate, including New Zealand, with flexibility for after-hours roster.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Electrical experience with LIS connectivity and laboratory automation; knowledge of Abbott products is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within NSW/state and interstate including NZ as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain detailed service and failure records, ensuring documentation complies with requirements.
  • Provide training on devices and equipment to technicians and Abbott Representatives.
  • Instruct customers in maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Calibrate test equipment as prescribed by quality policy.

Overview

Providing after sales support, repairs, preventative maintenance, reliability improvement programs, installations and deinstallations. Our current service methodology is one of using an adaptive and predictive model of identifying failure before it occurs and requires an individual who can adapt in this new model of doing service.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain detailed service and failure records, ensuring all documentation complies with legal and ethical requirements.
  • Provide training on devices and equipment to technicians and Abbott Representatives.
  • Instruct customers in maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Complete user verification checks Test Equipment as prescribed.
  • Maintain and adhere to Test Equipment calibration schedule as prescribed by quality policy.
  • Strong methodical and logical thinking skills
  • Must be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and provide excellent service, and account ownership from a technical support perspective.
  • Ability to do Root Cause Analysis and driven to achieve positive results for our customers and Abbott, including the ability to elevate to the wider group for a timely issue resolution.
  • Must be team oriented and have the ability to work with multi-disciplined teams
  • Eagerness to develop skills and knowledge through training and education
  • Potential for minimum 50% travel within NSW and across broader interstate (and New Zealand) locations as required
  • Willingness to be part of a rotating roster to support customers after hours.
Minimum Education

Relevant Tertiary qualification in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum experience/ training required

Electrical experience is necessary Knowledge on LIS connectivity, laboratory automation, Abbott products e.g. Architects, Alinity, Haematology instrumentation will be an advantage.
