Sabrands Australia is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function across food, beverage and household cleaning products. You will set strategic direction, manage risk, and partner with major customers and contract manufacturers from our South Melbourne base.

The role reports to the Head of Supply Chain and collaborates with the Food Safety, Quality & Compliance Manager to maintain certifications and compliance while guiding product recalls and regulatory matters.

Formación

• Five or more years in FMCG or food manufacturing with technical/quality focus.
• Experience leading a technical or quality function for at least 3 years.
• Strong knowledge of FSANZ requirements, labeling, allergens and product claims.

Sabrands is a privately owned Australian FMCG business behind well-known brands including Rosella, Sunraysia, Devondale Sparkling Juice, Blue Banner, CLR and O’Cedar.

We manufacture through approximately 12 domestic and international contract manufacturers and supply customers across grocery, hardware, food service and export channels.

We are now looking for an experienced Technical Manager to lead our technical function and strengthen our capability across product development, customer engagement, regulatory compliance and contract manufacturing.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will be accountable for the technical integrity of our food, beverage and household cleaning products.

This is a hands-on senior role with genuine technical authority. You will set direction, make significant product and risk decisions, lead complex technical matters and represent Sabrands with major customers and manufacturing partners.

You will lead and work closely with our Food Safety, Quality & Compliance Manager, who manages day-to-day quality systems, compliance and certification.

What you’ll do

Set the technical and quality strategy across our product portfolio

Hold overall accountability for product safety, quality, compliance and technical risk

Act as the senior escalation point, with authority to hold or stop product release

Lead technical engagement with major retail, hardware, food service and export customers

Oversee the approval, auditing and performance of domestic and international contract manufacturers

Lead complex regulatory matters across food, product claims, export and cleaning products

Direct the technical workstream across NPD and provide final sign-off at key development stages

Approve significant product, supplier and manufacturing changes

Oversee quality systems, audit programs and systemic improvement priorities

Lead product recall, withdrawal and technical crisis decisions

What you’ll bring

A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or a related discipline

HACCP certification

At least eight years’ technical, food safety or quality experience in FMCG or food manufacturing

At least three years’ experience leading a technical or quality function

Strong knowledge of FSANZ requirements, labelling, allergens and product claims

Experience managing contract manufacturers and meeting major Australian retailer standards

Experience leading significant incidents, recalls and technical investigations

Confidence presenting to customer technical teams and senior stakeholders

Strong commercial judgement and the ability to make clear, timely decisions

A lead auditor qualification and experience in export, international auditing or cleaning and chemical product compliance would be highly regarded.
