PMFresh is seeking a Quality Coordinator to join our Homebush site, focusing on food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance. This hands-on role supports the Site Technical Manager and leads the site Technical and Quality team on day-to-day activities.
You will monitor HACCP and GMP, coordinate audits, maintain the QMS, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with Production, Warehouse and Procurement to protect product quality.
Are you an experienced food quality professional ready to take the next step into a role with greater responsibility and team leadership?
We are looking for a Quality Coordinator to join our manufacturing site in Homebush, NSW. This is a hands‑on role supporting the Site Technical Manager and helping lead the site's Technical and Quality team while ensuring our products consistently meet high standards of food safety, quality, regulatory compliance and customer requirements.
Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Receiving, Maintenance, Procurement, NPD and other site functions, you will play an important role in maintaining our Quality and Food Safety Management System, supporting day‑to‑day manufacturing and keeping the site audit‑ready.
Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, you will assist in coordinating the day‑to‑day activities and priorities of the Technical and Quality team.
This role suits someone who enjoys being visible on the factory floor, solving problems at their source and working collaboratively with operational teams rather than managing quality solely from behind a desk.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the site's Quality and Food Safety Management System (QMS).
Monitoring compliance with HACCP, GMP, prerequisite programs, customer requirements and internal procedures.
Coordinating the day‑to‑day activities, priorities and rostering of Technical Officers and Quality Control team members.
Providing guidance, coaching and technical support to the site Technical and QC teams.
Maintaining site certification requirements and supporting internal, external, customer and supplier audits.
Ensuring the site remains audit‑ready at all times.
Monitoring food safety and quality KPIs, identifying trends and escalating significant issues.
Investigating quality and food safety issues and driving effective root cause analysis, corrective actions, validation and verification.
Maintaining the site technical calendar and ensuring scheduled inspections, testing, reviews and verification activities are completed on time.
Supporting HACCP reviews, risk assessments and validation activities.
Managing controlled documentation and ensuring procedures, forms and records remain current and effectively implemented.
Providing technical advice across raw materials, receivals, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.
Supporting NPD trials, new product introductions and first production runs.
Working with suppliers to improve raw material and packaging quality outcomes.
Delivering and supporting food safety and quality training across the site.
Working closely with Production and Warehouse leadership to continuously improve site quality performance.
Supporting the Site Technical Manager in building a strong, practical and accountable food safety and quality culture.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Science or a related discipline.
Approximately 3–5 years' experience in a technical, quality or food safety role within food manufacturing.
Experience within a high‑care/high‑risk or ready‑to‑eat (RTE) food manufacturing environment will be highly regarded.
Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, prerequisite programs and food safety systems.
Knowledge of food microbiology and RTE food safety; experience with fresh produce would be advantageous.
An understanding of Australian food legislation and relevant food safety and quality standards.
Experience working with standards or customer programs such as SQF, WQA, YUM and/or CFMSR would be advantageous.
Demonstrated experience maintaining or improving a Quality Management System.
Internal auditing experience, with supplier auditing experience highly regarded.
Strong investigation, problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
The ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels, from employees on the production floor through to site leadership.
Strong planning, organisation and technical report‑writing skills.
Previous experience supervising, coordinating or mentoring Quality/Technical team members would be highly regarded. Equally, we would consider an experienced Technical or QA professional who is ready to take the next step into a position with greater team leadership responsibility.
We are looking for someone who is hands‑on, inquisitive and solutions focused.
You will be comfortable challenging issues when something doesn't look right, investigating problems thoroughly and working with the wider site team to implement practical and sustainable solutions.
Just as importantly, you will understand that an effective quality culture is built through collaboration. You will be able to build strong working relationships with Production and other operational teams while maintaining appropriate food safety and quality standards.
This is an opportunity to take on a broad site‑based technical role where you can have a genuine impact on the way food safety and quality is managed every day.
You will gain exposure across manufacturing, quality systems, auditing, supplier quality, new product introduction, team coordination and continuous improvement, while working closely with an experienced Site Technical Manager and the wider operational team.
Location: Homebush, NSW
Employment: Full-time, permanent
Please note that due to the operational requirements of our business and the importance of Technical support during our busiest production periods, leave restrictions apply during peak periods, including December and January.
If you have a strong background in food manufacturing quality and are looking for an opportunity to broaden your technical and leadership experience, we would like to hear from you.
