Job summary

Department of Families, Fairness & Housing VIC – Ballarat VIC is seeking a Housing Team Manager to oversee the operational, planning, coordination and delivery of quality housing services across the Central Highlands Area. The role provides leadership to the Housing team, drives tenancy sustainment and vacancy reduction, and supports early intervention strategies to assist at-risk tenancies.

Department of Families, Fairness & Housing VIC – Ballarat VIC

The Housing Team Manager directly manages the operational, planning, coordination and delivery of quality housing services across the Central Highlands Area through supervision and providing leadership and direction to staff in the Housing team.

The role oversees the management of public housing with a priority in reducing vacancies, facilitating maintenance and sustaining tenancies, incorporating early intervention strategies such as regular and early home visiting and support to tenancies identified as being at risk. The Team Manager manages and coordinates the operational requirements of Housing Services, managing, leading and supporting the team to deliver quality client services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

• Lead a team in providing or contributing to authoritative and expert advice and recommendations consistent with organisational goals and values.
• Manage the allocation of resources within and the outputs required of the work area to achieve service delivery goals and expectations.
• Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:
  • leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
  • modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
  • where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
  • pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
