Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia’s Homelessness Stream delivers high-quality, person-centred services to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

We’re seeking a compassionate and proactive Support Worker to empower clients to live independently, working with Case Managers and Team Leaders to provide holistic support.

This is a part-time (20 hours/week) role based in Surry Hills with 24-hour rostered shifts across days, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Community Services is required.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care (desirable).
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (preferred).
  • NSW Driver’s Licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Support the Homelessness Stream Model of Care.
  • Work alongside Case Managers to respond to client needs.
  • Complete incident and risk reports in line with policy and procedure.
  • Identify service gaps and recommend improvements to leadership.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to strengthen practice.

About the role

We’re seeking a compassionate and proactive Support Worker to empower clients in developing their capacity to live independently. Working closely with Case Managers and Team Leaders, you’ll provide holistic support that makes a real difference in people’s lives.

This is a part-time (20 hours a week) position based in Surry Hills, reporting to the Residential Support Team Leader. The role involves 24-hour rostered shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays).
