Job summary

The Salvation Army in Morley, WA is hiring an Emergency Relief Assessor. This full-time, permanent role offers hybrid working arrangements and a 38-hour week from Monday to Friday, 8:45am–5:15pm.

You will talk with community members, listen to their needs and connect them with practical relief and advocacy. You will maintain client records, identify risks, escalate when required, and work with local partners to ensure timely support.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Community Services as a minimum.
  • Diploma or above in Community Services highly regarded.
  • Experience in the community services sector.
  • Experience supporting people experiencing hardship, vulnerability or trauma.
  • Confidence engaging with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic and solution focused in challenging or fast paced situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to TSA values and person-centred practice.
  • WA Working with Children’s Check

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, respectful space for people to share what they are going through.
  • Provide emergency relief and practical support tailored to individual needs.
  • Connect people with the right services through referrals and advocacy.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Notice emerging needs or gaps and share insights to strengthen the service.
  • Work closely with your team and local mission partners to ensure ongoing support.
