Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our Bundaberg team in a part-time capacity. You will provide practical, emotional and crisis support in a 24/7 residential setting, helping young people access housing, education, employment and health services.

Essential requirements include a Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related discipline, Queensland Driver Licence, Blue Card, First Aid, and willingness to work across a 24/7 roster.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or related discipline required.
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Ability and willingness to work across a 24/7 roster

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Provide practical, emotional and crisis support in a 24/7 residential environment.
  • Support young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
  • Assist with implementing support plans and case management goals.
  • Encourage participation in wellbeing, recreational and life skills programs.
  • Assist young people to access housing, education, employment, health and community services.
  • Support young people to strengthen positive family and social connections.
  • Advocate for young people and help them navigate services and support systems.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, records and documentation.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive residential environment.
  • Respond to challenging situations and crisis presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, external services and community partners.
