Job summary

Yass Valley Council is seeking a highly organised Support Officer for Transport Infrastructure to provide administrative, operational and customer service support. You will help coordinate projects, maintain records, process procurement and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong communication, time-management and attention to detail, with experience in MS Office and local government environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality administrative and operational support to the Transport Infrastructure team.
  • Assist with the coordination and monitoring of transport infrastructure projects, programs and works.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, records and other documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, registers and project information.
  • Assist with purchase orders, invoices, contractor documentation and financial administration.
  • Coordinate meetings, site activities, appointments and other team requirements.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and assist with the timely resolution of requests relating to transport infrastructure.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, consultants, government agencies and members of the community.
  • Support procurement, contract administration and other business processes as required.
  • Provide general assistance to the team to ensure projects and operational activities are delivered efficiently and effectively.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and motivated Support Officer Transport Infrastructure to join our team.

In this role, you will provide essential administrative, operational and customer service support to the Transport Infrastructure team, helping ensure the effective delivery of council’s transport infrastructure programs and services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy team environment, has strong attention to detail and is passionate about contributing to outcomes that make a difference to the local community.

About you

You will be an organised and proactive team member who can manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in an administrative, project support, infrastructure or customer service role, preferably within local government or a similar environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, databases and corporate systems.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to providing professional and responsive service to the community.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, local government processes and transport infrastructure.

It would be advantageous, if you have the following:

  • Basic understanding of road maintenance, drainage, concreting or other civil infrastructure works.
  • Experience in the use of financial, procurement and records management software such as Magiq.
  • Previous experience in local government or similar regulatory environment.
  • Experience in managing department stores / stock inventory.
  • Experience using Traffic Counter and Management software.

Renumeration

Full time employment, working 70 hours across a 9-day fortnight. Salary from $70,340 - $75,968 per year + 12 % super, depending on skills, experience and qualifications in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
