Job summary

Yass Valley Council is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Senior ICT Systems Officer to join our ICT team. You will provide high-level technical support and own key ICT systems, including Intune, Azure, and backup technologies, while mentoring frontline ICT staff.

This role emphasizes proactive problem solving, automation, and delivering reliable, secure technology services across Council, improving ticket management and service delivery for users.

Qualifications

• Relevant ICT qualification and/or demonstrated experience in a senior technical support or systems administration role.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, identity and backup technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and incident management using an ITSM like Jira.
• Experience developing scripts and automations with PowerShell.
• Ability to mentor frontline ICT staff and work in a small team.
• Local government experience or familiarity with council systems.

Working closely with the Network and Systems Administrator, you will provide high-level technical support and take ownership of key ICT systems, including Microsoft Intune, Azure technologies, and backup solutions. About you

You are an experienced ICT support professional with strong technical troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach. You are comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and communicating technical information clearly to non-technical users.

To be successful you will bring:

• A Relevant ICT qualification and/or demonstrated experience in a similar senior technical support or systems administration role.
• Practical experience administering Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, identity and backup technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience managing complex incidents through an IT service management system such as Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to identify recurring problems and implement proactive, sustainable solutions.
• Experience developing scripts and automations using tools such as PowerShell.
• Strong customer service, communication, time management and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to mentor frontline ICT support staff and work collaboratively within a small ICT team.
• A current and clean driver licence.
• Local government experience or familiarity with council systems and processes.

Renumeration

Full time employment, working 70 hours across a 9-day fortnight. Salary from $79,939 to $86,334 per year + 12 % super, depending on skills, experience and qualifications in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
