Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Defect Identification Officer to inspect roads, footpaths, car parks and other civil assets, identifying defects and recording repairs to extend asset life and safety. This field-based role supports the Civil Works & Presentation team and involves both independent work and teamwork.

Join a dedicated Council team focused on safety, functionality and longevity of community infrastructure, with a 38-hour week across a 9-day fortnight and access to wellbeing

Are you experienced in civil construction or maintenance and enjoy working outdoors, identifying issues before they become bigger problems? Do you have a keen eye for detail and take pride in maintaining essential community infrastructure?

We are seeking a proactive and motivated Defect Identification Officer to join our Civil Works & Presentation team. In this important field-based role, you will play a key part in ensuring Council's roads, footpaths, car parks, wharves, jetties and other civil infrastructure assets remain safe, functional and well maintained for our community.

About the Role

As a Defect Identification Officer, you will be responsible for conducting scheduled inspections across Council's extensive civil infrastructure network. Your ability to identify defects, assess repair requirements and accurately record maintenance needs will directly contribute to extending the life of Council assets and enhancing community safety.

Working both independently and as part of a dedicated team, you will undertake routine inspections, raise repair requests and provide valuable information that supports Council's maintenance and asset management programs.

About You

In this role you will conduct scheduled inspections of Council's roads, car parks, commercial areas and other civil infrastructure assets, identifying and accurately recording defects and required repairs. Ensure inspections are completed within agreed timeframes, support maintenance planning and prioritisation, maintain inspection programs, and contribute to the ongoing safety, functionality and longevity of Council's assets.

  • Package: $67,397 to $71,439 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
  • Hours of work: Working 38 hours per week over a 9 day fortnight.
