Job summary

Yass Valley Council is seeking a Senior ICT Systems Officer to support and manage key ICT systems, including Microsoft Intune, Azure, and backup solutions. You will drive service delivery through effective ticket management, automation, and mentoring of frontline ICT staff.

Qualifications

• Relevant ICT qualification or proven experience in a senior technical support or systems administration role.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, identity and backup technologies.
• Strong incident management using an ITSM like Jira.
• Experience scripting with PowerShell for automation.
• Customer service, time management and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to mentor staff and work in a small ICT team.
• Valid driver's license; local government experience preferred.

Yass Valley Council is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Senior ICT Systems Officer to join our Information and Communication Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, supporting people, and ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure technology services across Council.

About the role

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and continuously improving delegated ICT systems, including Intune, Azure, and backups.
• Leading complex ticket resolution and mentoring frontline ICT support staff.
• Monitoring ticket trends to identify recurring issues and implement proactive, long-term solutions.
• Developing scripts and automations to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Delivering a high-quality customer experience and keeping users informed.
• Prioritising competing tasks effectively to meet agreed timeframes.
• Enhancing the team’s IT service management practices, documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Assisting with business analysis, requirements gathering and process improvement.

About you

You are an experienced ICT support professional with strong technical troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach. You are comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and communicating technical information clearly to non-technical users.

To be successful you will bring:

• A Relevant ICT qualification and/or demonstrated experience in a similar senior technical support or systems administration role.
• Practical experience administering Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, identity and backup technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience managing complex incidents through an IT service management system such as Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to identify recurring problems and implement proactive, sustainable solutions.
• Experience developing scripts and automations using tools such as PowerShell.
• Strong customer service, communication, time management and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to mentor frontline ICT support staff and work collaboratively within a small ICT team.
• A current and clean driver licence.
• Local government experience or familiarity with council systems and processes.

Renumeration

Full time employment, working 70 hours across a 9-day fortnight. Salary from $79,939 to $86,334 per year + 12 % super, depending on skills, experience and qualifications in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
