Job summary

Spinifex State College in Mount Isa is seeking a dedicated Student Support Worker to provide a safe, supportive environment for residential students 24/7. You will monitor health, wellbeing and behaviour, and liaise with students, parents and school staff to identify needs and respond appropriately.

The role requires experience with adolescents in boarding settings, a current First Aid certification, and a valid Working with Children Blue Card. Accommodation is not provided.

Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility. Our Junior Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.

Your opportunity: Be responsible for the provision of a safe and secure environment away from home for secondary students attending the residential campus as well as monitoring the health and wellbeing of these students.

Liaise with the students, school and parents of students on a regular basis to recognise any educational, social, emotional or behavioural problems.

This is a 24-hour, seven-day boarding facility, with staff working a variety of weekday, weekend and active/awake night shifts during school terms.

Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly in a boarding school environment, is highly desirable.
